BEACON HILL POOL
TRANSFORMATION AND RENOVATION
Client: City of Beaconsfield
Beaconsfield, QC. Canada
2000
Based on a sustainable development method, the project proposes a transformation of the aquatic services pavilion in Beaconsfield by an expansion, spaces, redefined according to current needs, re-examined accesses and a new choice of durable and easy-to-maintain finishes.
Four elements dominate and animate the morphology of the transformed building. The main volume stripped of its original envelope houses the restored bathrooms.
The volume annexed to the main building for the needs of the concession made it possible to reconsider the space intended for lifeguards and to nest it on the roof of the extension, thus becoming a floor with an outdoor terrace, a real observatory with a plunging view of the site. The promenade grafted onto the existing volume with its platform, its sun screens and its pergola redefines the peripheral zone of the building while harmonizing an otherwise irregular facade.
