Following on from the educational mission of the Biosphere Environment Museum, several greening interventions were carried out on the roofs and in the entrance hall. The different spaces have been carefully studied in order to identify the most suitable spaces to place the interventions. The design and installation were then carried out in collaboration with specialists in horticulture and botany to determine a harmonious assortment of plants.
The green roofs and the green wall have a triple function. On the one hand, they fulfill an aesthetic function, giving a pleasant green appearance to spaces otherwise left bare.
Their second function is of an environmental nature, the green wall allowing for example an increase in the humidity rate and noise absorption for more sound comfort. Green roofs are welcoming places for biodiversity and allow rainwater to be absorbed, otherwise having to be evacuated via sewerage networks.
Finally, these spaces fulfill a third function, which is to participate in the educational content of the museum by serving as demonstrators of the environmental benefits linked to their installations.
